more catch up...

Every year at Easter Chris and I attend Easterfest...it's always a crazy busy time!! Chris plays in several bands, and in addition is usually sitting in with several other bands! And there's endless amounts of people that want to talk to him...so we always come home stuffed!! But it was a good weekend filled with lots of crazy stuff.....

A keytar Chris spent many late nights making from card board....what a trickster!

Hanging out, cosy in the artists' lounge...

And...every year for Easterfest one of Chris's bands, SCAT, does the final show of the festival, "The Fancy-Pants Ball". And every year they wear silly suits for the show...this year we spent a whole week painting op-shops suit jackets, pants, shirts, ties, shoes, wigs and glasses for the guys! And we painted their faces and hands on the night! Each member had a different colour....it was crazy...and although we had fun, after doing 3 coats of primer, and 8 coats of colour on each suit we were sick to death of them! But it all turned out nicely...

Chris checking his wig and glasses are satisfactory...

And some home made cacao and stevia ice cream for our restful day after a big weekend! yummy...

things and stuff of late...

Things have been very busy, but discouraging lately....so I baked! (Which, really, solves all the world's problems...)..but since I don't eat sugar...I got to do some fun baking for other people:

Chris has just started giving piano lessons to a young boy from our church...so we made him a cake for his first lesson....He gobbled it up, quicker than he learnt 'proper' technique!

Youth group starts up again tonight, with a 'MEGA CHOC' night...so we baked a triple layer, 'death-by-chocolate' cake..and are also making some Nutella pizzas (italian memories *sigh*....)

And...some lovely flowers and an origami crane that my husband gave me last week...made my week!! Unfortunately they lasted little more than a day in the current heat! Origami still going strong...

jazzy jollys...

Last night my very talented husband played to a sold-out house at the Brisbane Jazz Club with one of his bands, the Chris Poulsen Trio. I was so proud of him!!!! It was such a great night, and the guys played so well! It was their first major 'performance' gig for the year, and they impressed everyone....with a few CD sales to boot!

They even did a rendition of Sesame Street's, 'Pin Ball Countdown'!!

lazy day...

Monday is our 'day off'...after a crazy, draining weekend with Church stuff, we usually just crash! So it was 'lazy lunch day'! I can't stop eating swedes at the moment - I wish I had discovered this vegetable years ago! It is very underused....

bridal shower...

Today I was blessed to host my Sister-in-Law's Bridal Shower Tea....It was lots of fun! It took a while to set up, and get everything cooked, and the weather was a bit unpredictable - unusually windy! But it was a great afternoon. It's so fun playing ladies!

There was lots of crafting to do for the occassion! Sewing bunting, an apron present for the bride-to-be, making some paper windmills, and a 'wedding doll' paper chain! Also lots of cooking - the most interesting of which was a chocolate beetroot cake....perhaps not the right crowd for it though!

Overall it was a lovely afternoon celebrating the pending nuptials!

things & stuff

Your balm

Drop Your still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease:
Take from our souls the strain and stress;
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Your peace.

Breath through the pulses of desire
Your coolness and Your balm;
Let sense be mum, its beat expire:
Speak through the earthquake, wind and fire,
O still small voice of calm!

Ever feel like you're being crammed in from every side? I've been very encouraged by this passage lately:

"Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God".
-Ephesiands 3:17-19

And thus I have come to the conclusion that maybe I just don't understand.

On Tuesday we discovered New Farm Deli!! Yay!!! Such amazing, traditional Italian food!!! After having some root canal surgery done though, I was pretty much sticking to liquids! Minestrone was unbelievable though! Apart from a few 'numb-face-induced' dribbles...it was a lovely morning!

Mum's flowers...

While we were home in Bundy, my Mum was growing these lovely Gerbras (spelling??)
